On Thursday 6th June, a group of 13 Friends visited Wesley Cottage at Trewint where we were given an interesting talk on its history and association with John Wesley.  The photographs show the group outside the cottage and in the prayer garden opposite.

We then travelled to the village of Altarnun where we had a delicious lunch in the church hall followed by a visit to the Church where we were given a informative talk on its history and furnishings.  The photograph shows the group inside the church.

Our final visit was to Blisland Church where again we received a most interesting talk on the beautiful interior and the photographs speak for themselves.

On the 30 April a group of 25 Friends went on a coach outing to Powderham Castle which lies in a beautiful deer park on the banks of the River Exe.  We had a tour of the castle and as the weather was fair, it enabled us to experience a deer park safari.

On the afternoon of Thursday 28 February 2019 the Friends gathered, in the Assembly Room of the Old Cathedral School, for an illustrative and most interesting talk by Dr Ian Brown about his charity trek up remote mountain valleys in eastern Nepal revealing stunning natural beauty and enriched hospitality in a changing country.  His talk was illustrated by some beautiful slides and short videos.  The event was preceded by a delicious cream tea.

After a carvery lunch, on 20 May, the AGM started at 1.45pm with Reports from the President (The Dean) and our Chairman (Canon Alan).  Business concluded with the presentation of 2 bouquets of flowers to our retiring Secretary, Roberta Evans, in appreciation of her many years of service to the Friends.  Formal proceedings concluded we then had an interesting talk by our organist, Joseph Wicks, on his life and career in music.  He illustrated his talk with extracts of pieces of music which were particularly dear and significant to him.

The 17th April turned out to be a dull and drizzly day but it did not dampen the Friends’ enthusiasm as they set off by coach to visit the Kernow Chocolate Factory, St Eval Candles and Trelawney Garden Centre.  At the chocolate factory the Managing Director, Alex, gave us a talk outlining the background of the business, the part his family played in its inception and why it is located in the village of St Eval.  During the talk, amongst other things, Alex mentioned the fact that the factory produced 5,000 bars a day for a variety of establishments.  During the talk the Friends enjoyed a hot drink and samples of their delicious products.  We then had a visit to St Eval candles before travelling to Trelawney Garden Centre for lunch.

On 20th March 2018, a group of Friends spent the afternoon at Shelterbox learning about the work of this excellent charity.  We packed a Shelterbox, stepped inside tents and shelters and heard inspiring stories of how Shelterbox helps survivors of worldwide conflicts and natural disasters.  How they get aid to the people and how the people rebuild their lives.  The afternoon finished with tea / coffee and homemade cakes.
