Visit to Friends’ Meeting House
On 15 October a group of 15 Cathedral Friends at the invitation of the Truro Society of Friends (the Quakers) paid a visit to their Meeting House in Paul’s Terrace, Truro. The event commenced with a tour of the Meeting House and its tranquil adjacent burial ground and an inspection of a display of historic books and artefacts. This provided an opportunity for both groups of Friends to meet and get to know each other.
The Truro Friends have obtained from reliable sources the names and ages of the 11,700 Palestinian children killed in Gaza up to January 2024. The names and ages have been written on strips of white cloth. They have about 40 lines of these pieces of cloth of which 6 are hanging in the Meeting House.
Before refreshments which incorporated a question and answer session we joined our hosts in their act of worship which was quiet and reflective as is their custom. The Cathedral Friends who attended this event thoroughly enjoyed the experience and some have asked whether it can be repeated. The Cathedral Friends extended an invitation to
their hosts to attend their coffee mornings on the second Wednesday of every month.
